Separation of surface flow from subsurface flow in catchments using runoff coefficient

چکیده
Separating surface flow (SF) from subsurface (SSF) based on direct runoff measurements in river gauges is an important issue hydrology. In this study, we developed a simple and practical method, coefficient (RC), for separating SF SSF. RC depends mainly soil texture, land use cover, but also considered the effect of slope rainfall intensity. We assessed our RC-based method three different types by comparing value obtained with laboratory simulator data. The correlation between observed calculated data exceeded 0.93 0.63 when estimating SSF, respectively. was then used to separate SSF two catchments (Heng-Chi San-Hsia) Northern Taiwan, results were compared those produced geomorphological instantaneous unit hydrograph (GIUH) model. Test revealed that, if accurately, proposed can satisfactorily at catchment scale.

Conjunctive surface–subsurface modeling of overland flow
In this paper, details of a conjunctive surface–subsurface numerical model for the simulation of overland flow are presented. In this model, the complete onedimensional Saint-Venant equations for the surface flow are solved by a simple, explicit, essentially non-oscillating (ENO) scheme. The two-dimensional Richards equation in the mixed form for the subsurface flow is solved using an efficient...
متن کاملSurface Runoff and Lateral Subsurface Flow as a Response to Conservation Tillage
Conservation tillage has significant potential as a water management tool for cotton production on sandy, drought-prone soils. Plant residue remaining at the soil surface from prior crops serves as a vapor barrier against water loss, reduces raindrop impact energy, slows surface runoff, and often increases infiltration. By increasing infiltration, the potential for greater plant-available water...

In this paper, the El-Hames empirical method was used to determine the peak runoff flow in Iranshahr catchment. The El-Hames method is based on morphological parameters and SCS Curve Number of the studied area. The implementing was processed by collecting the required data including soil type and vegetation cover, land use maps, digital elevation model and satellite images from the associated i...
متن کاملBluff Body Flow Separation Control using Surface Dielectric Barrier Discharges
Surface dielectric barrier discharges (DBDs) are used to delay flow separation behind a bluff body in atmospheric pressure air. The bluff body is made by connecting a flat plate to a half cylinder tangentially as a round-cornered trailing edge. Four DBD plasma actuators are attached along the surface of the half cylinder. Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) is utilized for studying the velocity fi...
متن کاملNumerical Modelling of Coupled Surface and Subsurface Flow Systems
This paper presents and compares several numerical solutions of the coupled system of Navier-Stokes and Darcy equations. The schemes are based on combinations of the finite element method and the discontinuous Galerkin method. Accuracy and robustness of the methods are investigated for heterogeneous porous media. The importance of local mass conservation for filtration problems is also discussed.
